Hudson Valley Plein Air Art Festival is for EVERYONE

Spend Time Outdoors & Watch Artists Paint in Nature

Artists from around the country will be flocking to our region to compete in the Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival on Columbus Weekend, October 6-10, 2016. The Hudson Valley has inspired artists for more than two hundred years.

On Thursday and Friday, October 6-7, Plein Air Artists who were juried from a pool of accomplished and talented artists, will be painting throughout the Hudson Valley and tracked by an easily downloadable Google app. Visit the Plein Air Artists while they paint and pick up raffle tickets, which can be turned in for prizes at the final exhibit.

On Saturday, October 8th from 4-6pm, artists will converge on the Newburgh Waterfront for a two-hour “Quick Draw” competition sponsored by Trestle, Inc.

This is open to the Plein Air Artists AND anyone in the community who would like to participate in the “Quick Draw.” There will be ribbons and three monetary prizes awarded.

Registration and canvas-stamping will take place from 3:00-4:00 pm by the Columbus Statue at UNICO Park, Front Street, Newburgh, NY.
Artists will have two hours to paint, from 4:00-6:00pm, to capture the beauty of Newburgh and the Hudson.
The public can vote and award their favorite artists during that time. One painting will be awarded “People’s Choice.”
From 6:00-6:30 pm, artists will return to UNICO Park, frame their paintings and set them up on their easels.
From 6:15-7:00 pm, the Quick Draw paintings will be judged, awards will be given out, and paintings may be purchased near the Columbus Statue at UNICO Park.
Best of Show $250; 2nd Prize $150; 1st Prize $100
In addition, Quick Draw paintings which won prizes will be featured in Trestle’s 2017 Plein Air Calendar.
Ten other Plein Air paintings will be chosen during the weekend for this calendar.
